Looking For A Durable Dog Toy That Will Last?

User Article   15 Views   By administrator on Jan 20 2010, 8:19 pm

Does your dog seem to chew every toy to pieces? Or maybe he chews the remote control into a gnarled piece of plastic. Or even worse, he takes a bite out of your slippers or your favorite shoes ...

The fact is, there are very few things that can challenge a dog's teeth.

Let me explain why a dog's teeth can be so destructive.

Dog's teeth are highly specialized structures that tear, cut and grind food into pieces small enough to swallow. A dog's teeth also serve as weapons of offense and defense. Dogs generally have 42 adult or permanent teeth. The permanent teeth include six pairs of sharp incisor teeth, which are in the front of the mouth, surrounded by two pairs of large canine teeth.

So does ANY toy have a chance of surviving a determined dog?

Well, the answer is that a determined dog will probably be able to get the best of almost any toy. However, some toys are better designed and of higher quality than others. Well-built toys will last longer, which translates into more hours of fun for your dog and more value for your money. And who isn't looking for good value these days?

So today I want to share Dr. Debra Primovic's recent finding of a VERY high quality toy. As you may recall from previous e-mails, Dr. Primovic's family has a dog named "Sweet Lips". Sweet Lips is an adorable Yellow Lab, but don't let her looks fool you ... she can destroy just about anything. (Does this sound like your dog?)

Well, the toy that Dr. Primovic found is called, Tuffy Ultimate Ring. It caught her attention because it claimed to be one of "The World's Toughest Dog Toys" . This is quite a BIG claim. The product description for this toy sounded very good ... "Three layers of industrial grade luggage material, three layers of PVC and finally one layer of soft fleece. All seven layers are rolled together and then sewn together in a one-inch cross pattern to prevent layer separation. Each toy's seven layers of material are sewn together with two rows of linear stitching AND two rows of cross-stitching."

Sounds very durable! Give it a try!
